Vintage French Crowns

Well now I ask you, why are these so hard to find and cost soooo much for reproduction crowns.  I have seen these go for as much as $450.00 on Ebay.  I too have seen them on certain sites as well and either I am naive or something, but I just don't get it. I have never seen these elsewhere such as antique stores.

So I ask you, what makes these reproduction crowns EXPENSIVE !!!!!!!! ?

Hi Glenda, I have no idea... other than maybe they are made in the US????

It is pretty though!

I don't know why they are so expensive?? Did Rachel Ashwell decorate with them, looks like something she would like, maybe she started a trend, LOL. Thanks so much for the visit (;

They are nice though. I think every girl wanted a crown, ok me too! Kathy

They are fun and I'm sure that if everyone wanted them aka the masses, then the prices would go down- in the meantime, I would love to acquire a couple!

They are horribly prices on ebay! I don't know why I guess just because they're a very hot decorating accessory right now.

copied from post to my blog...lol

Hi Glenda,
Lisa and I are good friends! She carried my line of vintage jewelry in The Pickled Hutch.
In fact, I just got off the phone with Lisa. A bunch of us are going to help her tomorrow at The Hutch to pack up any remaining un-sold items.

Nice to meet you also. I'll visit your blog again.

Take care,
Debby

Well I am crazy for them! But reproduction ones are totally over priced! In my neck of the country they're really hard to find and I think that drives the price up but really more than $20 is pushing it for me. Vanna

Totally agree and understand regarding the pricing on newly made items vs. the originals.
I will say, I have sold these very crowns you mention and the truth is, they are actually quite expensive for us to buy and once you build in some kind of profit...well, there's your shocker price tag. :(
I will say this, they are very intricately made and its almost not until you actually hold one in your hand that you appreciate all the detail and work that goes into crafting them. Having said that, I still agree - they're priced at just below a KING'S (or QUEEN'S) RANSOM! :)
Love your blog!!
XOXO
Ruth
